This shrine is dedicated to the 2011 video game Alice: Madness Returnsđ“ˆ’ This game was developed by Spicy Horse and released by Electronic Arts, and it is a sequel to the game American Mcgee's Alice. This game was released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows. This game is in thrid-person, and it is single player. The gameplay has combined elements of platforming, combat, and puzzles. There are multiple collectibles in this game, which add up to your "total completion" of the overall game.
In Alice: Madness Returns, and it's prequel, you play as Alice Liddell — a young woman living in London in the late 1800s. Alice's family was killed tragically in a house fire, leaving her the lone survivor. Riddled with survivor's guilt, her mind escapes into "Wonderland", a twisted reality filled with characters drawn from her trauma. She is held at Rutledge Asylum, being treated for insanity. She is put through grusome treatments, and her documents from the asylum can actually be found in the game's menu. Alice is eventually released from Rutledge, and begins living at an Orphanage under the care of Dr. Angus Bumby. Bumby is a psychiatrist who uses hypnosis to help the child patients under his care forget their trauma (and subsequently their memories). Alice is also getting treatment from Dr. Bumby, but she doesn't believe it is working. Alice wants to know every detail about the fire that killed her family, and she wants to know what caused it. Her hallucinations begin to worsen, and once again she finds herself back in Wonderland. However, this time it has changed. And this is where the game begins.
MY FAVORITE CHAPTER: My favorite chapter to replay in Alice: Madness Returns is Chapter 2: Deluded Depths. The aesthetic of the chapter is just so beautiful, the underwater scenery is so gorgeous. The BGM and the ocean ambience? Holy Shit. Don't even get me started on how STUNNING Tundraful is at the beginning of the chapter. That genuinely might be my favorite area of the game. The ice, the aurora borealis, the BGM, the dynamic sun and moon, AND IT INTRODUCES THE HOBBY HORSE! OH MY GODDD. Also. The chapter 2 dress, siren. THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DRESS IN THE GAME. It just matches Alice's hair and eyes so well, and it's so flattering on her. The only thing I do dislike about chapter 2 is that it introduces three enemies that I hate. HOWEVER. That is a trade I am willing to make.
MY FAVORITE WEAPON: My favorite weapon in the game is the teapot canon. BUT BUT BUTTT. Me and the teapot canon are ENEMIES TO LOVERS. During my first playthrough of the game on my Xbox 360, I was a hobby horse WARRIOR. It was my LIFELINEEE. And guess what? I HATED the teapot canon. I absolutely DESPISED IT. FOR NO REASON TOO. Even playing with the DLC weapons on Steam, I prefered the Hobby Horse! However. Something Changed. And I love the teapot canon now. ESPECIALLY the DLC version. You can literally wipe out the Menacing Ruin in three hits with it. DLC teapot canon is OP.
MY LEAST FAVORITE ENEMY: I have a few least favorite enemies to fight, but the longest reigning one for me is the FUCKASS DRIFTING RUIN. I HATE IT I HATE IT. I'm so bad with the timing for it opening its face up, and I always MISS. AND THEY GIVE SO MUCH DAMAGE FOR NO REASON TOO. My old least favorite used to be the Drowned Sailors from chapter 2 but you can honestly wipe those out so quickly with the DLC teapot canon. God bless that weapon.
